  • Author: Kayla Neff
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 6 slices 1x

Description

Crispy on the edges, fluffy in the center, and infused with cinnamon and vanilla — this Classic French Toast is the perfect cozy breakfast for any day of the week.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 slices thick bread (brioche, challah, or Texas toast)
  • 3 large eggs
  • ¾ cup whole milk
  • 1½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp sugar (optional)
  • Pinch of salt
  • Butter or oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, sugar, and salt until well blended.
  2. Heat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat and add butter or oil.
  3. Pour the custard into a shallow dish and dip each slice of bread for 5–10 seconds per side.
  4. Place soaked bread on the hot skillet and cook 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and crisp on the edges.
  5. Serve hot with your favorite toppings like syrup, powdered sugar, fruit, or whipped cream.

Notes

Use slightly stale bread for best results. Don’t oversoak the slices. Keep finished French toast warm in a 200°F oven while cooking the rest.
